All Set For The New Season,

JEDDAH: Western Province Cricket Association organized its General Body Meeting along with the Prize distribution and Registration for the new season at a local restaurant here in Jeddah in the presence of Jeddah dignitaries, WPCA sponsors, SCC officials, WPCA Vice President Mr. Zulfikhar Ali Choudhry and the WPCA committee members in the midst of huge gathering of the Club representation.
After the recitation of Holy Quraan and introduction of the Guests of honour a glittering Awards ceremony took place amidst WPCA affiliated Club representatives and the victorious and Runnerup teams who were part of the Awards ceremony. The Prize distribution event included the Main Tournament in the season 2010-11 which comprised of three tournaments in the Premier, Afternoon and Morning levels. Crown Steel was awarded the Winners Trophy and Usman Gems was given the Runnersup cup in the Premier division as Crown Blues bagged the Winner’s Cup and Safa Al Bawadi was adjudged the Runnersup whereas Budget had won the Morning level Trophy and Crown White was the Runnersup in the said tournament. Shoaib Ali of Crown Steel was given the Man of the Premier Tournament, Khurram Karamat of My Care Hala, the Best Batsman as Khalid Iqbal of Zultec as the Best Bowler, Mohammed of My Care Hala was given the award of Best WK. Shafeeq of Red Sea Paints was adjudged the Man of the Tournament, Usman Ali Niaz of AOT as the Best Batsman, Anwaar of Crown Blue as the best Bowler and Hasanat of Crown as the best Wk in the Afternoon league. Majid Khan of My Care Green got the award for the Man of the Tournament and Best Batsman, Abdul Rafey of Hala International School as the Best Bowler, Adnan of Crown White as the Best Wk in the Morning Tourney.
Prize distribution was followed by a speech by Mr. ZulfikharChoudhry in which he took up all the aspects of the WPCA cricket development projects. He highly the role of SCC and the WPCA executive members contribution and he also spoke about the construction of two more grounds at the WPCA Eskan Complex bringing into eight. He was thankful to Asian Cricket Council and Sausi Cricket center for their efforts to improve the standard of cricket in the kingdom by organizing Umpiring and Coaching
courses by the International reknowned personalities which will definitely contribute to enhance the betterment of Cricket. He also reiterated his commitment to develop the game into the Saudi Nationals for the Cricket to flourish. He humbly thanked the Print and press for their positive contribution in the mission and he pleaded the press to continue their contribution.
Registration of the New as well as the WPCA affiliated Clubs was carried out after a lavish Dinner. Draws were also taken out for the forthcoming season’s first Tournament which will have three tournaments at Premier, Afternoon and Morning Levels. All the 3 levels will be played on T 20 basis. The Premier 40 over Main tourney will start after Hajj holidays. This time around despite the overwhelming demand for the inclusion in the WPCA League, strictly WPCA affiliated Clubs first and then Few new Clubs were accorded entry into the fray purely as per the WPCA committee guidelines laid down for the selection of the Clubs. The total Registration taken up is 13 Clubs in the Morning Level whereas 18 in the Afternoon and 9 teams in the Premier Tournament totaling to 40 Clubs. Three teams have joined from the city of Makkah. As per the Media release the WPCA will begin its new season with the staging of Saudi National Day and Indo Pak Independence festival matches on the auspices Day of September 23 followed by the regular hostilities starting September 30, 2011.
